Project starting point
The Youth Centre Žalec has long represented an important hub for cultural, educational, and social events in the local community. The renovation of the hospitality part of the building was designed to create a modern meeting space that supports the centre's activities and offers visitors a pleasant environment for socialising.
MCŽ was created with the desire to establish a space that transcends the classic hospitality experience. The aim of the project was to design an ambience that combines relaxed socialising, quality culinary offerings, and a distinctive architectural character.
The central concept is based on the contrast between light and dark surfaces. The black ceiling structures and floor coverings give depth and identity to the space, while the light wooden elements, softly upholstered benches, and carefully selected decorative highlights create a sense of warmth and comfort.
Special attention was given to the organisation of the space. Guests naturally move through the venue from more open social areas to more intimate corners, allowing for various ways to use the space throughout the day. The visual connection between the individual zones creates a sense of wholeness, while each part of the venue retains its character.
In the interior, we incorporated a combination of natural materials, warm wood tones, subtle golden details, and modern lighting, which add elegance to the space without excessive formality. Large light surfaces and thoughtful lighting further emphasise the spatial dynamics and create a pleasant atmosphere both during the day and in the evening.
The bar serves as the focal point of the space, around which the entire user experience develops. Its placement allows for transparency, functionality, and effective connection of all the venue's programme components.
The MCŽ project is an example of KOGI's holistic approach, where through planning, design, and preparation for execution, we created a space that is not only aesthetically refined but also primarily functional, recognisable, and sustainable in the long term.
